Doloqina Ukweshwama is the Zulu Traditional thanksgiving and is held before harvesting of the crops.
No crops may be harvested or eaten untill blessed by the King and his Sangomas.
Traditionally the the first ceremony is held by the Zulu Monarch during mid January when there is a half moon and it is usually attended by many thousands. Thereafter, throughout his kingdom, smaller ceremonies will be held in all the towns and villages.
Although largely symbolic, the ceremony is still held by various communities throughout the Zulu Kingdom.
The ceremony recorded here was held in oSizweni at the Zimazisa Disabled Society. During the course of the ceremony parcels of fresh vegetables were handed out to the disabled members of the society.
The Society also took the opportunity of displaying, and selling, their beautiful Zulu Craftware.
Anyone wishing to purchase this craftware or to make donations or render assistance to the centre is invited to contact;
